Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, reviewed the functioning of the Churachandpur District Administration through a video conference held at Hotel Classic Grande, Imphal.

The Minister assessed the district’s overall progress, with particular emphasis on the condition of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in relief camps and the implementation of central and state-sponsored schemes. He also reviewed key sectors including health, education, power, agriculture, transport, and handloom and handicrafts, while taking note of public grievances related to government services.

Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Dharun Kumar S., briefed the Minister on ongoing projects and programmes in the district. He stated that IDPs are being provided with necessary facilities, and that efforts are underway to support their rehabilitation and livelihood restoration.

On the education front, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the presence of PM SHRI Schools, state-run institutions, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and various private schools, noting that the district has been performing well in higher secondary education. He added that school dropout rates have declined due to administrative interventions. However, limited access to higher education institutions remains a challenge, prompting initiatives under public relations outreach to bridge the gap.

In the health sector, he said Churachandpur has a functional medical college and remains one of the better-performing districts, despite challenges in super-specialty and tertiary care services.

Assuring continued support from the Centre, Bandi Sanjay Kumar urged the district administration to place greater emphasis on agriculture and allied sectors such as horticulture and animal husbandry to build sustainable livelihoods and enhance the district’s self-reliance.
