Itanagar, Nov 6: The death of a 12-year-old Class 7 student at Sainik School, Niglok in East Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh, has raised serious concerns after his sister, Miss Arunachal 2024 Tadu Lunia, alleged he was tortured by senior students.

Lunia claimed that on October 31, a group of senior students entered the junior dormitory, accused her brother of theft, and later took him away. CCTV footage reportedly shows the boy pacing nervously and leaving a note blaming “seniors” for his suffering.

Following the allegations, police detained eight students and presented them before the Juvenile Justice Board in Pasighat. The case, initially registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, was upgraded after the victim’s father filed an additional FIR citing ragging. Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances of the boy’s death.
