Guwahati, Nov 8: Assam Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Nandita Gorlosa felicitated Indian women’s cricket team wicketkeeper-batter Uma Chetry, a member of the squad that won the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
The official handle of the Chief Minister of Assam shared the news on X, stating that Minister Gorlosa honoured Uma Chetry for her contribution to Indian women’s cricket. The post added that Chetry’s dedication and journey continue to inspire aspiring athletes across the state.
Although Chetry played only one match during the tournament, she featured in India’s last group-stage fixture against Bangladesh, taking the field as wicketkeeper in place of Richa Ghosh. The match was abandoned due to rain before Chetry could bat.
