Shillong, Nov 11: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the deadly blast near Red Fort in New Delhi that claimed several lives and left many injured.

In a post on X, Sangma said he was gravely disturbed by the tragic incident and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families while praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.

At least nine people were killed and 20 others, including two women, sustained injuries after a high-intensity explosion tore through a slow-moving car near the Red Fort metro station on Monday evening. The blast also gutted several vehicles and caused panic in the crowded area.

Police said the car involved in the explosion had three occupants and that investigators are probing whether the incident could have been a suicide attack.
