Agartala, November 12, 2025: Tripura has once again made its mark on the national stage by emerging as a Top Achiever in two reform areas under the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2024 at the Udyog Samagam 2025, organised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
Tripura’s Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma received the award from Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, who praised the state’s reform-driven approach and commitment to ease of doing business.
Addressing the event, Goyal commended the efforts of all participating States and Union Territories for their innovative policies and collaborative spirit in strengthening India’s industrial ecosystem. He reiterated the Centre’s support in fostering quality-led, inclusive growth that benefits both businesses and consumers.
Tripura, assessed under Category X—comprising Northeastern States and Union Territories with developing systems—was recognised as one of the Aspirer States in the 2024 evaluation. The state earned distinction for its steady progress in policy innovation, governance reform, and investor facilitation measures.
The BRAP 2024 assessment covered 434 reform points across Central and State domains, backed by a massive feedback exercise involving 5.8 lakh businesses and 1.3 lakh interviews across 34 States and UTs.
Emphasising the importance of forward-looking reforms, Goyal urged states to focus on innovation, women’s entrepreneurship, startup ecosystems, and deep-tech industries, while leveraging India’s growing network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to strengthen domestic industries.
Tripura’s recognition at Udyog Samagam 2025 stands as a testament to its growing reputation as a dynamic hub for industrial development and entrepreneurship in the Northeast.
