Agartala, November 15, 2025: Tripura Police and intelligence officials from Raishyabari Police Station have arrested three alleged smugglers while they were attempting to transport goods worth nearly Rs 30 lakh into Bangladesh. The arrests were made during a special operation based on confidential intelligence.
Following interrogation, the detainees were handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation.
Police sources informed that the operation was launched after a tip-off suggested that a large consignment was being prepared for cross-border smuggling through the frontier region. The arrested individuals have been identified as Jibon Chakma (40), a resident of Anandarchhara; Nayan Chakma (33), a resident of Nija Chandrapara; and Jibon Chakma (33), a resident of Nilachandra Lalchhara.
Investigators revealed that initial questioning has provided further leads about the smuggling network. Authorities are now probing whether additional members are linked to the racket.
