Tripura: Firearm Seized, Local Resident Arrested in Joint BSF-Police Operation

Agartala, November 15, 2025: Acting on a tip-off, security forces arrested a resident of Bhugjur village in Srimantapur after recovering a firearm and ammunition during a late-night raid.

According to police sources, information was received that weapons were being stored at the home of Babul Mia in Srimantapur Panchayat. Based on the intelligence, a joint team of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Sonamura police conducted a search operation in the wee hours of Saturday.

During the raid, Babul Mia and his wife, Morsheda Begum, allegedly attempted to resist and obstruct the officers. However, the situation was quickly brought under control by the BSF and police personnel.

Both individuals were taken into custody, and a firearm along with cartridges was seized from the house. Police officials stated that investigations are underway to determine the source of the weapon and identify others who may be involved.

The incident has sparked tension and curiosity among local residents, with authorities assuring that the probe will continue until all links are uncovered.
