Agartala, November 18, 2025: North Tripura has once again brought pride to the state, earning national recognition for its outstanding performance in water conservation.

The district was felicitated by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, for being the Best Performing District in the North East and Hilly Zone under the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagaidari (JSJB) campaign. North Tripura district’s DM Chandni Chandran received the award and certificate.

As part of the honour, North Tripura received an award of Rs 2 crore, acknowledging its remarkable achievements in community-driven water conservation. Between February and May 2025, the district successfully created over 11,000 water conservation structures, setting a benchmark for sustainable resource management.

Officials noted that the recognition reflects the dedication of government staff, cooperation of public representatives, and the active participation of residents, who collectively ensured the success of the campaign.

This achievement highlights North Tripura’s growing reputation as a model district in environmental stewardship and participatory governance.
