The Inter ministerial central team (IMCT) from Delhi visited Peren district on 20th November 2025 for spot details assessment of damage and relief work to be carried out by the state and admissibility of additional central assistance in the wake of Landslide, flash flood in Nagaland during the monsoon in 2025.
The meeting was held at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Peren and deliberate the various issues regarding Landslide by flash flood for necessary action to be taken. The Central Ministerial team was lead by Gaya Prasad, joint Secretary Ministry of Home Affair (MHA) was accompanied by Sanjeep Kumar Suma, Director; Dheeraj, Regional Officer; Mahes Kumar, Deputy Director – FCD; Chahat Singh, Assistant Commissioner and Nirmala S. Jain Scientist/ Engineer “SE and Johny Ruangmei, Joint CEO from NSDMA.
Deputy Commissioner Peren, Hiazu Meru gave the PowerPoint present and highlighted the affected area caused by continuous heavy rainfall leading to landslide in several residential colonies causing significance damaged to the building and agricultural crops, paddy and king Chilly in the district. The DC also pointed out various departments affected causing heavy damage to Agriculture and Horticulture crops in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Peren Hiazu Meru also highlighted that due to heavy rainfall in the district defoliation of leaves in many areas have caused inconveniences and also informed the Central Ministerial team about fire incident and insect pest affecting agriculture products during 2025. He also mentioned that incessant monsoon rain has wrecked and caused havoc to various irrigation structures; such as dams, channels and earthen channels. DC also informed that alternative road to Dimapur Kohima bound vehicles during blockage of NH 29 Patkai – Kukidolong stretch Pimla Mhainamtsi road were also damaged and affected by the landslides.
Inter Ministerial Central team leader, Gaya Prasad said that they have seen the damaged caused by heavy rainfall, flash flood from the PowerPoint presentation and apprised the different Department to share their grievances causes by floods and landslides.
