The District Administration of Cachar held a preparatory meeting at the CDC Dholai office on Thursday to organise a day-long Border Festival at Dholai on 24th November. The festival aims to bring together communities from Assam and Mizoram to celebrate harmony, culture, and sports.
Officials from both states participated in the meeting, including H. Vanlalbiakzauva, SDO (Civil), Vairengte, and Lalnufela Chawngthu, MCS, SDO (Sadar), Mamit district, Mizoram. From the Cachar side, the session was chaired by DDC Cachar, Norsing Bey, ACS, who stressed seamless coordination between the two administrations. CDC Dholai, Roktim Baruah, ACS, oversaw on-ground planning, while other officials assessed cultural, logistical, and security arrangements.
The festival will feature a friendly football match at the B.N.M.P. School field, followed by a volleyball match between teams from Cachar and Mizoram, symbolising unity and sportsmanship. Meanwhile, the CDC Dholai office ground will host cultural performances by troupes from Vairengte and Mamit, along with artistes from Cachar.
With sports, cultural events, and community engagement at its core, the Border Festival at Dholai is expected to strengthen inter-state relations and showcase the vibrant spirit of the people living along the Assam-Mizoram border.
