Agartala, November 24, 2025: Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Sunday accused “vested individuals” with no political allegiance of deliberately fuelling clashes between the BJP and the Tipra Motha Party to destabilize peace in Tripura and tarnish the state’s image before the Centre.
Debbarma made the remarks after visiting the Tipra Motha Party office at Khumulwng that was set ablaze, and meeting several injured party workers in the TTAADC area. Calling the incident “a clear conspiracy”, he alleged that certain elements were attempting to drive a wedge between him and Chief Minister Manik Saha.
“There are people who want to destroy the relationship between me and the Chief Minister,” Debbarma said. “During the violence, I was in touch with the DGP, yet rumours were spread widely. These vested interests—who keep shifting between CPIM, Congress, IPFT, Tipra Motha, and BJP—are neither loyal to any party nor guided by any ideology. They work only for money. They are criminals.”
Dismissing any suggestion that Tipra Motha workers could torch their own office, Debbarma emphasized the need to confront “goonda elements” who he said had infiltrated the political landscape.
“We must stand up against these anti-social elements who malign our name,” he said. “I want peace and development in Tripura—both for tribal and non-tribal communities. In this fight, the common people suffer the most.”
Appealing to the public to resist such miscreants, he urged the police to take decisive action. “There is no space for violence. The Chief Minister and I share good understanding, and we don’t want this to be disturbed,” Debbarma added.
