The Manipur Police and security forces have arrested two active cadres of proscribed militant organisations in separate operations carried out under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district.

On Wednesday, November 26, police apprehended an 18-year-old active member of KYKL (SOREPA), identified as Thangjam Avinash Singh, also known as Amuba or Picktru, from the Porompat area. Authorities said he was allegedly involved in recruiting new members for the banned outfit. A mobile phone recovered from him is believed to contain important information related to the organisation’s network.
A day earlier, on November 25, security forces detained 38-year-old Laishram Amar Singh, also known as Amarjit, an active cadre of PREPAK (PRO). He was picked up from his residence at Top Awang Leikai in Top Dusara. A mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were seized during the operation.
Both arrested individuals are currently being interrogated, and investigations are underway to track the wider network involved in insurgent recruitment and activities in the region.
