Agartala, November 27, 2025: Tripura Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday inaugurated the state-level Orange Festival at the Pushpa Udyan in Badharghat, Agartala. The two-day festival, organized by the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, showcases the state’s agricultural diversity and development initiatives.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by MLA Mina Rani Sarkar along with senior officials from various government departments.
Over the course of the festival, exhibition stalls have been set up by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, State Horticulture and Plantation Crops Research Centre, Agriculture Research Station, Tripura State Organic Farming Development Agency, and other allied departments. In addition to orange sales counters, several Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) are displaying and selling their locally produced goods.
On the same day, Minister Nath also formally inaugurated the newly developed Pushpa Udyan at Badharghat, located adjacent to Science City. With the unveiling of the commemorative plaque, the garden has been opened to the public with nominal entry fees, offering special opportunities for students to visit and explore.
Key officials present at the event included Apurba Roy, Secretary of the Department of Farmers’ Welfare; Dr. Phani Bhushan Jamatia, Director of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare; Dipak Kumar Das, Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation; Sujit Kumar Das, Deputy Director of Horticulture (West District); and Gopal Mol, MIDH Consultant, among others.
