Agartala, November 29, 2025: Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday evening highlighted the need for an amicable resolution to the long-pending Phuldingsei land dispute with Mizoram, stressing that peace and fraternity among neighbouring states are essential for the region’s collective progress.

Speaking at the launch of the revamped Unity Promo Fest at Jampui Hills, Chowdhury said the state government is committed to fostering cooperation and harmony, both to strengthen tourism and to advance the broader vision of national integration.

The Minister noted that last year’s massive public response to the Promo Fest inspired the department to scale up the event. “This year, we are organising it for two days in every location. As the night progresses, the turnout will be even higher,” he said, adding that the new design of the fest aims to promote unity, culture, and tourism simultaneously.

Underscoring the significant improvement in Tripura’s tourism sector since 2018, he said the state has focused on building infrastructure, enhancing hospitality, and promoting local food and culture under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

Addressing the inter-state land issue, Chowdhury expressed confidence that the Phuldingsei dispute can be resolved with the intervention of the Central government. “There are some disputes with Mizoram, but these can be settled amicably. If people from Mizoram come here and earn, it benefits all,” he said.

He urged neighbouring states to embrace cooperation rather than isolation. “We believe in tranquillity, fraternity, and togetherness. Only then can we realise Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. By isolating Mizoram, Meghalaya, or any other state, we cannot make India a Vishwa Guru,” he added.

Chowdhury reiterated that Tripura remains committed to peaceful dialogue and mutual development, asserting that unity is the cornerstone of regional prosperity.

Minister Chowdhury was accompanied by Power minister Ratan Lal Nath, Industries and Commerce minister Santana Chakma and other dignitaries.
