Agartala, November 29, 2025: Tripura Police in Dhalai district seized a massive consignment of cannabis weighing 547 kilograms during a routine vehicle check at Ganganagar police station’s naka point on Saturday.
According to officials, police signaled a vehicle bearing registration number TR-01-0759 to stop for inspection while it was traveling from Gandacherra towards Ambassa. Instead of complying, the driver broke through the barricade and attempted to flee. A chase ensued, and the vehicle was later abandoned at Purnajoy Para, where the driver escaped.
During the operation, police also intercepted another vehicle, TR-01-CA-0763, in the vicinity. Searches of both vehicles led to the recovery of multiple packets containing 547 kg of dry cannabis, with an estimated market value of ₹2 crore.
Authorities further detained two individuals found loitering near the vehicles on suspicion of involvement. Both hail from South Tripura district and are currently being interrogated.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirupam Dutta, Officer-in-Charge Gautam Debbarma, and Inspector Babul Mahajan, among others. Police also recovered several number plates from the vehicles, suggesting attempts to conceal their identity.
