Itanagar, Dec 1: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd) held discussions with Lt Gen RC Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command, on key issues including border security, welfare of ex-servicemen, and army collaboration with the state government. Lt Gen Tiwari was accompanied by Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding, 3 Corps, according to a Raj Bhavan statement.
During the meeting, Governor Parnaik highlighted the state government’s focus on enhancing military capabilities, strengthening infrastructure, adopting advanced technologies, and promoting ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat.’ He also stressed the importance of safeguarding the welfare of soldiers and veterans.
The governor commended the Eastern Command for maintaining peace along Arunachal’s sensitive borders, fostering strong community ties, and implementing the Vibrant Village Programme, which aims for comprehensive development of selected villages through a multi-pronged strategy focused on local economic growth.
Parnaik noted that the goodwill generated by the Indian Armed Forces has significantly contributed to the economic welfare of border residents while reinforcing national security. He urged the army to conduct regular ex-servicemen rallies across the state and emphasized involving Veer Naris the widows of fallen soldiers in veteran community activities, acknowledging their sacrifices.
