Agartala, December 2, 2025: Tripura is preparing to roll out the second phase of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY 2.0), a major skill development initiative aimed at providing training and employment opportunities to rural and tribal youth across the state.
A key coordination meeting was held on Monday at the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) headquarters, chaired by TRLM Chief Executive Officer Tarit Kanti Chakma, with participation from relevant departments and partner agencies. The meeting focused on finalising the roadmap for the scheme’s implementation in Tripura.
Under DDU-GKY 2.0, an allocation of Rs 9 crore has been earmarked for training and placement-linked programmes. The initiative will support young people in acquiring industry-relevant skills and connecting them with job opportunities, contributing to improved livelihoods and economic growth.
DDU-GKY is a centrally sponsored programme under the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, targeting rural youth in the 15–35 age group. The scheme places special emphasis on enabling access to formal employment through structured skill training.
Participants will receive training in sectors such as retail, hospitality, healthcare, construction, information technology and agriculture. In addition to classroom and practical instruction, candidates will be supported through placement assistance to help them secure sustainable jobs.
As a component of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), the scheme aligns with the broader objective of inclusive development and poverty reduction. With the launch of DDU-GKY 2.0, the state aims to expand opportunities for rural youth, reduce reliance on low-income traditional livelihoods and strengthen workforce participation in emerging industries.
Officials said the programme will be implemented under strict monitoring mechanisms to ensure training quality and meaningful employment outcomes.
