Agartala, December 4, 2025: A team of doctors, nurses, and health workers at Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital successfully performed a complex surgery that saved the lives of both a 29-year-old expectant mother and her newborn.

The woman, a resident of Teliamura, was admitted for delivery and underwent a cesarean section under the supervision of obstetrician and gynecology specialist Dr. Sushanta Saha. During the procedure, Dr. Saha discovered a uterine tumor requiring immediate surgical removal. After consulting the patient’s family and obtaining consent, the medical team proceeded with a myomectomy (tumor removal) along with tubal ligation, completing three consecutive surgeries in one session.

The operations were carried out successfully, and both mother and child are now under close medical observation.

The surgical team included Dr. Sushanta Saha, gynecology specialist Dr. Debashree Das, anesthetist Dr. Samir Ranjan Debbarma, nursing officer Prabhas Deb, OT technician Krishna Banik, and other supporting staff.

The patient’s family expressed gratitude to the doctors and hospital staff for their timely intervention. They also acknowledged the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, under which the treatment was provided at Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital without the need to travel to a higher medical facility.
