The Manipur Government has issued a strong warning to anti-social elements and organisations allegedly attempting to disrupt peace and intimidate law-abiding citizens in the state.
The government said that Manipur Police have already initiated action against individuals and groups involved in issuing threats or engaging in coercive activities. Officials emphasised that intimidation or any attempt to compromise the safety and security of citizens amounts to an act against the state and its people.
Reiterating that no individual or organisation—proscribed or otherwise—has the authority to impose punishments, restrict cultural or artistic activities or issue decrees that undermine public order, the government affirmed that strict legal measures will be taken against offenders.
Authorities urged the public to immediately report any threats, extortion attempts, coercion or suspicious activities to the nearest police station. The Anti-Extortion Cell of the Home Department, equipped with a 24×7 toll-free helpline (1800-202-3326), has been assigned to handle such complaints, with assurances that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and security, the government called upon citizens to remain united against unlawful elements and support collective efforts to restore normalcy, harmony and progress in Manipur.
