Agartala, December 5, 2025: A Bangladeshi youth was shot dead by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) after allegedly crossing into Indian territory near the Hirachhara BSF camp in Kailashahar.
The deceased has been identified as Sukiram (25), son of Dasnu Urang from Murichhara slum under Karmadha Union in Bangladesh.
According to local accounts, several villagers had gone to graze cattle near the Murichhara border area on Thursday afternoon. Sukiram reportedly strayed across the zero line and entered Indian territory while attempting to retrieve cattle. Witnesses said BSF personnel ordered him to stop, but he ignored the instructions. Moments later, BSF opened fire, hitting him in the back.
Critically injured, Sukiram was rescued by locals and taken to Kulaura Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has claimed that BSF fired because Sukiram crossed the border line. However, BSF has not yet issued any official statement regarding the incident.
