Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday distributed ₹10,000 seed capital cheques to 17,774 self-help group (SHG) beneficiaries under the Mission for Mentoring, Uplifting, and Advancing (MMUA) programme in Hailakandi LAC. The initiative aims to promote women-led enterprises and strengthen financial independence in the district.
Dr. Sarma noted that after Tamulpur, the MMUA programme has now reached Hailakandi, empowering over 17,000 women with seed funding and future credit support. The programme is expected to help uplift around 40 lakh families toward an annual income of ₹1 lakh.
In addition to the seed capital distribution, several key development works and welfare initiatives are progressing steadily, reinforcing the constituency’s growth trajectory.
