Curtain Raiser Rally Flagged Off For The 32nd Imphal Book Fair

A Curtain Raiser Rally in connection with the 32nd Imphal Book Fair 2025 was held on Sunday. The rally was jointly organised by the State Central Library, Imphal, District Libraries and the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, in collaboration with the Manipur Library Association (MALA) and various NGOs running public libraries.

Chief Librarian of the State Central Library, Dr. R.K. Urmila, flagged off the rally from the State Central Library Campus, Imphal. The two-wheeler rally passed through Mayailambi, Pishumthong, Singjamei, Wangkhei, Minuthong and Nagamapal before concluding at the library campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Urmila said that in the present situation of uncertainty and challenges in the State, it is essential to engage in constructive and enriching activities. She added that reading books provides stability, hope and intellectual strength, and plays an important role in shaping positive thinking, especially among students and youth.

The rally aimed to create awareness about the importance of reading and to encourage the public to cultivate the habit of reading. The 32nd Imphal Book Fair 2025 will be held from December 15 to 24, 2025, and will focus on connecting readers with writers, publishers and other professionals from the literary world.
