Agartala, December 9, 2025: The Animal Resource Development (ARD) Department on Tuesday inaugurated a new Block Veterinary Hospital at Raishyabari in Dhalai district, marking a boost to Tripura’s rural animal healthcare infrastructure.
Animal Resource Development Minister Sudhangshu Das formally opened the facility in the presence of Dhalai Zilla Sabhadhipati Sushmita Das, MLA Nandita Debbarma Reang, ARD Secretary Deepa D. Nair, Director Santosh Das, senior officials and community representatives.

Addressing the gathering, the minister said the hospital would significantly strengthen veterinary services in the region by enabling timely treatment, preventive care and improved livestock management. The initiative, he added, reflects the government’s focus on expanding essential services to remote and tribal areas. Local farmers and residents welcomed the development, expressing hope that it would reduce livestock mortality and boost rural livelihoods.

Earlier in the day, Minister Das visited the cage-culture units installed in the Dumbur Lake reservoir under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. The project, implemented by the state Fisheries Department, aims to raise fish production and support the livelihood of fish farmers. Das said the initiative would help make more than 1,512 fish farmers in the region economically self-reliant while contributing to the state’s overall fish supply.
