Guwahati, Dec 10: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Tuesday launched ‘Good News Assam,’ a special publication by Doordarshan News Assam, at Lok Bhavan (formerly Raj Bhavan) in Guwahati. The book features 55 inspiring stories selected from over 50 episodes of the weekly television programme ‘Good News Assam,’ highlighting notable achievements in innovation, entrepreneurship, social service, and community leadership across the state.
Governor Acharya praised the initiative for documenting Assam’s development journey and commended ordinary citizens making extraordinary contributions. He noted that the programme helps communicate the benefits of government welfare schemes and highlights progress in sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, digital technology, infrastructure, women’s empowerment, and rural development.
Drawing a parallel with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ the governor said the publication promotes inclusive growth by recognizing individuals whose efforts positively impact society. He also remarked on the renaming of Raj Bhavan to Lok Bhavan, describing it as a reflection of governance focused on public engagement and welfare, and reaffirmed Lok Bhavan’s commitment to initiatives in youth empowerment, leadership development, environmental protection, and sustainable farming.
