Guwahati , Dec 15: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan at the Vice-President’s Enclave in New Delhi on Sunday and extended a formal invitation for him to visit Assam.
The meeting, which lasted around 30 minutes, was a courtesy call during which Sarma congratulated Radhakrishnan on assuming office as Vice President. He invited the Vice President to visit Assam to see the state’s recent developmental progress. Radhakrishnan appreciated the gesture and held a cordial interaction with the chief minister.
In a post on X, Sarma said he had congratulated the Vice President and invited him to visit Assam to witness the transformation the state has undergone in recent years.
Earlier in the day, at the same venue, Radhakrishnan released a commemorative postage stamp in honour of Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II, also known as Suvaran Maran. On the occasion, he referred to initiatives supporting Tamil culture, including the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, and efforts to highlight the contributions of lesser-known Tamil rulers and freedom fighters.
