Tripura to Hold ‘Run for Tea 2025’ to Promote State’s Tea Industry

Agartala, December 15, 2025: In a bid to boost the overall development of Tripura’s tea industry and enhance the popularity of ‘Tripura Tea’ across the country, the Tripura Tea Development Corporation (TTDC), in collaboration with the Tea Board of India, is set to organize the annual ‘Run for Tea 2025’ on December 17.

The event will commence at 6:30 AM from the premises of the Birchandra State Central Library in Agartala. As in previous years, the run aims to raise awareness about the state’s tea heritage and promote its acceptance on a national scale.

Separate 3-kilometre races have been arranged for male and female participants. Organizers anticipate participation from over 200 young runners from various parts of the state. Winners in both categories will receive cash prizes of ₹5,000, ₹3,000, and ₹2,000 for first, second, and third places respectively, along with certificates. Additionally, ten more participants will be awarded ₹1,000 each as consolation prizes.

Complementing the race, an open rally is also scheduled, expected to draw nearly 2,000 citizens from diverse walks of life, further amplifying the event’s message of unity and pride in Tripura’s tea culture.

The event will be inaugurated by Minister for Industries Santana Chakma. Other dignitaries expected to attend include Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil, Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce Kiran Gitte, Director Dr. Deepak Kumar, and West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar.

The programme will be presided over by TTDC Chairman and senior advocate Samir Ranjan Ghosh.

To ensure the success of the event, the organizers have extended a special invitation to media representatives for coverage and have urged citizens from all sections of society to participate and support the initiative.
