Agartala, December 16, 2025: A spate of job fraud cases has come to light in Tripura, with organised scam groups allegedly duping unemployed youth by offering government jobs in exchange for money. The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has been drawn into the scam, as fraudsters reportedly used the corporation’s name to issue fake appointment letters after collecting hefty amounts from aspirants.
Official sources said the fraudsters contacted job seekers through phone calls and WhatsApp messages, posing as intermediaries linked to government departments. By assuring “guaranteed” appointments and creating urgency, they managed to mislead several candidates.

Responding to the reports, TSECL issued a firm public warning, clarifying that it has no involvement in any such activities. The corporation stated that any individual or group promising jobs in TSECL in return for money is indulging in fraud and should be reported.
TSECL Managing Director Biswajit Basu outlined the legitimate recruitment process, noting that 4,430 applications have been received for 104 engineering posts across various categories. He stressed that recruitment will be strictly transparent and merit-based, with candidates shortlisted only after qualifying in the written examination and viva voce. All recruitment-related information, including examination schedules, will be officially notified through newspapers and the corporation’s website.
TSECL has urged aspirants to remain cautious, avoid agents or middlemen, and rely only on official notifications available on www.tsecl.in, emphasizing that public awareness is key to preventing such scams.
