Agartala, December 16, 2025: The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala observed ‘Vijay Diwas’ 2025 with solemnity and respect, hosting a two‑part programme to honour the martyrs and heroes of Bangladesh’s Liberation War.
The day began at sunrise with the ceremonial hoisting of the Bangladesh national flag on the mission premises, accompanied by the national anthem. Following protocol from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials placed floral wreaths at a temporary memorial to pay homage to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War.
Messages from the President of Bangladesh, the Chief Adviser, and the Foreign Affairs Adviser were read out. A special prayer was offered seeking peace and blessings for all who sacrificed their lives in 1971 and for everyone who contributed to the nation’s independence.
The second phase of the event commenced at 11:00 AM in the presence of distinguished guests from Tripura, civil society representatives, local administration officials, freedom fighters and their families, and staff of the Assistant High Commission.

The programme opened with a one‑minute silence in memory of the martyrs of the Liberation War and those who lost their lives during the 2024 uprising. A discussion session followed, highlighting the significance of Victory Day.
The discussion session featured remarks from Shantanu Sharma, Founder of Arshi Kotha; Amit Bhowmik, senior journalist; Priyonath Saha, prominent businessman; Pranab Sarkar, President of the Agartala Press Club; Dr. Anup Kumar Saha, Principal of Agartala Medical College; S. M. Almas Hossain, Head of Chancery; Sharif Ahmed, First Secretary; and Hasan Al Bashar Abul Ulai, Assistant High Commissioner.
In his remarks, Assistant High Commissioner Hasan Al Bashar Abul Ulai paid deep tribute to the martyrs, the two lakh women who lost their honour, and the valiant freedom fighters. He expressed gratitude to the people of Tripura for their unwavering support during the Liberation War and prayed for the souls of those who embraced martyrdom during the July 2024 movement for democratic and egalitarian ideals.
A vibrant cultural performance by young artists from Tripura’s Ishwar Pathsala followed the discussion. Through patriotic songs and dances, the children showcased the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Bangladesh, captivating the audience.
Assistant High Commissioner Hasan Al Bashar Abul Ulai concluded the event by thanking all attendees. A luncheon was hosted in honour of journalists, media professionals, civil society members, officials of the Agartala mission, and invited guests.
