Heroin Worth Rs 2.20 Crore Seized In Assam, Five Peddlers Arrested

In consecutive anti-narcotics operations, Cachar police seized 388 grams of heroin valued at Rs 2.20 crore and 90,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 26 crore, arresting five individuals involved in inter-state drug smuggling.

On Tuesday night, acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted a vehicle (MZ-02C-1553) from a neighbouring state at Dhudhpatil under Silchar police station. Officers recovered heroin hidden in 30 soap boxes inside a secret compartment. Three suspects from Bhanga Bazar under Dholai police station Dildar Hussain (25), Nazrul Hussain (20), and Jasim Uddin (25) were arrested. The vehicle was reportedly en route to Guwahati, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das.

In a related operation on Monday at Rongpur under Silchar police station, officers stopped a truck (AS-01FC-0018) and discovered 90,000 Yaba tablets in a hidden chamber. Two individuals, Dalim Uddin Laskar and Abed Sultan Barbhuiya, were apprehended.

SSP Das stated that investigations are ongoing to trace the broader trafficking network. He added, “These crackdowns highlight our commitment to curbing the drug menace in the region.”
