Silchar, Dec 17: The Cachar district administration has imposed prohibitory orders along the India–Bangladesh border to curb illegal crossings and prevent potential security threats, officials said on Wednesday.

An official release stated that the decision was taken in view of apprehensions about possible infiltration by extremist elements and unauthorised activities in sensitive border areas that could disturb peace and public order.

The order was issued on Tuesday by District Magistrate Mridul Yadav under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). It restricts unauthorised movement of individuals, transportation of goods, and other activities in the notified border areas.

Officials said the restrictions are aimed at strengthening border vigilance and maintaining law and order in the district.
