The Arunachal Pradesh government is intensifying efforts to revive stalled hydropower projects across the state, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said on Thursday, underlining the region’s vast energy potential.
Mein, who oversees the Power and Hydropower portfolios, reviewed the progress of key projects including Tawang I and II, Etalin, Demwe Lower, Naying, Kalai I and II, Hutong, Subansiri Upper, Kamala, and the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project.
The review focused on major initiatives such as the 3,097 MW Etalin project, the 1,750 MW Demwe Lower project, and the 1,605 MW Subansiri Upper project, all crucial to Arunachal Pradesh’s long-term energy strategy.
“This effort is part of a broader push to revive stalled hydropower projects and ensure timely, responsible, and sustainable development,” Mein said on X, highlighting the government’s commitment to energy security and policy stability. He emphasized that hydropower remains a key driver of the state’s development plans.
