Union Home Minister Amit Shah will undertake a day-long visit to Assam on December 29 to inaugurate several major projects, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday.
Sarma said Shah will begin the visit by inaugurating the newly constructed Guwahati Police Commissioner’s office and launching the CCTV network under the Intelligent City Surveillance System (ICSS).
The Home Minister will also unveil the Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Complex, a grand auditorium with a seating capacity of 5,000, described by the Chief Minister as the largest in eastern India.
Later, Shah will visit Borduwa in Nagaon district, the birthplace of Vaishnav saint Srimanta Sankardeva, to inaugurate a state government project aimed at developing the site as a hub for art, culture, and spiritualism.
The CM noted that Shah’s visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day trip to Assam starting December 20, with several other national leaders scheduled to visit the state in the coming weeks.
