Agartala, December 19, 2025: Amid growing security concerns following unrest in neighbouring Bangladesh, senior officers of the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and the Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday carried out a comprehensive review of security arrangements along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura’s South District.
The high-level inspection took place in the Belonia sub-division, a strategically important area located along the international boundary. Tripura shares an 856-kilometre-long border with Bangladesh, a significant portion of which remains unfenced, heightening security challenges in the region.

According to an official release from the Eastern Command of the Indian Army, Lieutenant General RC Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command, visited a Border Outpost in Belonia accompanied by senior military officials to assess the operational preparedness of forces deployed along the border.

During the visit, Lt Gen Tiwari interacted with troops manning forward posts and reviewed ground-level arrangements. He lauded the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and BSF personnel for their vigilance, professionalism and sustained alertness in safeguarding the international border. The Eastern Command stated that the senior commander appreciated the dedication and readiness of the troops in ensuring national security despite challenging conditions.
