Itanagar, Dec 19: Arunachal Pradesh’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a senior government officer for allegedly misappropriating compensation funds linked to a highway project in East Kameng district.

ACB Superintendent of Police Mridul Yadav said the case arose from a complaint filed by members of the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA), East Kameng unit. Following scrutiny of documents, witness interrogations, and technical analysis, the district land revenue and settlement officer (DLRS) was arrested on December 17.

The allegations concern the diversion of funds intended for landowners affected by the Lada-Sarli Frontier Highway project. Investigations into the misappropriation are ongoing, Yadav added.

The 1,748-km strategic highway runs along the India-China border, aiming to improve connectivity in remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh and strengthen national security, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
