Agartala, December 22, 2025: Unakoti Multi-Speciality Hospital in Kailashahar has emerged as a trusted name in eye care, particularly for cataract treatment, across Tripura. Combining government healthcare infrastructure with skilled medical services, the hospital is steadily becoming a symbol of confidence in the district’s health system.
On December 19 and 20, 2025, the hospital’s ophthalmology department successfully performed cataract surgeries on 41 patients who had come from different parts of the state. The operations were conducted by ophthalmologist Dr. Raju Burman, assisted by nursing staff Jayashree Ghosh and Jetna Chakma, along with GDA staff Neha, Shatabdi, Shormina, and Pushpita Rao, who played vital roles during and after the procedures.
A notable highlight was that six patients underwent a special non-surgical procedure. They included Abdul Gani (76), Santosh Deb (74), Haradhan Dutta (84), Moklis Miah (67), and Basid Ali (71).
The entire cataract surgery program was carried out free of cost under the Ayushman Card scheme. Beyond the operations, the hospital provided medicines, spectacles, meals, and other necessary facilities, ensuring that financial hardship did not prevent patients from receiving treatment.
Post-surgery, Dr. Burman offered crucial guidance on eye care, including do’s and don’ts for recovery. Hospital Superintendent Dr. Dwaipayan Karmakar told this correspondent that equal emphasis is being placed on awareness alongside treatment to ensure patients regain full health.
Grateful patients and their families expressed heartfelt thanks to the hospital authorities for the free and successful surgeries. The achievement of 41 successful operations in just two days underscores that Unakoti Multi-Speciality Hospital is not merely a healthcare facility, but a beacon of trust and assurance in the district’s medical system.
