Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday visited the historic Batadrava Than to review the final stage of redevelopment work ahead of its inauguration by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on December 29.

Batadrava Than, located in Nagaon district and known as the birthplace of Vaishnav saint Srimanta Sankardeva, has been redeveloped following the clearance of encroachments, officials said. The chief minister inspected the site and assessed preparations for the upcoming inauguration.

According to officials, Amit Shah’s one-day visit to Assam will also include the inauguration of the new Police Commissioner’s office in Guwahati, the launch of the Intelligent City Surveillance System with CCTV coverage across the city, and the opening of the Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Complex auditorium, which has a seating capacity of 5,000.

Preparations are underway across departments to ensure the smooth conduct of the scheduled programmes during the Union Home Minister’s visit.
