Agartala, December 23, 2025: The Meteorological Centre has projected that dense fog will persist across Tripura for the next several days, keeping minimum temperatures marginally above the seasonal norm.
Briefing the media, Dr. Partha Roy, Head of the Meteorological Centre, noted that although winter commenced on December 1 with temperatures close to average, the past four days have seen a slight increase in minimum readings. This uptick, he said, reflects the influence of widespread fog formation across the state.
On Tuesday, Agartala registered a minimum temperature of 14.2°C, which is two degrees higher than the long-term average of 12.2°C. According to Dr. Roy, fog has been prevalent for three consecutive days, limiting nocturnal cooling and preventing temperatures from dipping to typical winter levels.
The department anticipates foggy conditions to continue for another three to four days, with temperatures expected to stay near or slightly above normal in several districts. The current dry spell is likely to prevail, and morning fog may persist until around 11 a.m.
Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution during early morning hours when visibility remains low, especially for commuters and those travelling on highways.
