Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Tuesday said India has signed seven Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) over the last five years, indicating an expansion of the country’s engagement with global markets.

In a post on X, Mein stated that the recent FTAs reflect a shift in India’s trade diplomacy towards greater clarity and strategic engagement. He said the agreements aim to widen market access for Indian goods and services and support integration with global supply chains.

According to Mein, the FTAs are expected to attract investment and create opportunities for Indian industries by improving access to international markets. He added that the agreements focus not only on tariff reductions but also on strengthening value chains and enhancing export potential.

Officials said the trade agreements seek to balance domestic manufacturing priorities, including the ‘Make in India’ initiative, with global economic integration. The FTAs are also aimed at securing preferential access for Indian products and encouraging foreign direct investment, which could contribute to employment generation and industrial growth.
