BJP national working president Nitin Nabin arrived in Guwahati on Friday on a two-day visit to Assam to attend the party’s State Executive Meeting at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra. He was received by party leaders and workers at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
Nabin, who assumed charge as BJP national working president on December 14, is scheduled to participate in several organisational meetings during his visit. These include a meeting of the BJP Assam State Core Committee at the party’s state headquarters to review organisational and political matters.
The State Executive Meeting, to be chaired by Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia, will also be addressed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. According to Assam BJP vice-president Manoj Baruah, around 800 participants, including MPs, MLAs, office-bearers, council members and party karyakartas, are attending the meeting.
The discussions are expected to focus on the current political situation in the state, organisational issues and electoral preparedness. The meeting is also aimed at outlining strategies for the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly elections, scheduled to be held in March–April.
On Saturday, December 27, meetings of the State Election Management Committee and the Manifesto Drafting Committee are also scheduled to take place.
