Gangtok, Dec 26: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang attended the State-Level Namsoong Festival celebration at Lingee, Nalipartam, in the Tumin–Lingee Constituency on Friday.

Namsoong, which marks the New Year and the harvest season, also celebrates the cultural and spiritual bond between the Lepcha community and Mayel Lyang, often referred to as Sikkim’s Hidden Paradise.

Speaking at the event, CM Tamang highlighted the Lepcha community’s values of coexistence, humility, and respect for nature, noting that these offer enduring lessons for the modern world. He also emphasized the civilizational bond of Lho-Men-Tsong-Sum as a reminder that Sikkim was built on harmony rather than conquest.

The Chief Minister further stated that the government is committed to preserving the language, culture, and heritage of the Lepcha community. He wished that Namsoong brings peace, prosperity, and happiness to every home and invoked the blessings of Kangchenjunga for the unity and strength of Sikkim.
