Agartala, December 30, 2025: In a coordinated operation on Tuesday morning, Tripura Police, Assam Police, and other security agencies detained a man identified as Jagir Mia from Joypur under West Police Station jurisdiction. Officials confirmed that his father’s name is Hanif Mia.
Authorities allege that Jagir Mia is an active member of the outfit “Imam Mahamude Kafila,” which is believed to be a branch of the banned militant organization Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
Police have registered cases against him under multiple provisions, including Sections 143/147/148/149/150/152/113(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, as well as Sections 10/13/16/38/39/40 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P)A). He was produced before the court later in the day.
The Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) is a terrorist organization operating out of Bangladesh. It has already been designated as a banned outfit by Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Australia. The group was founded in April 1998 at Palampur in Dhaka Division by Shaikh Abdur Rahman.
