Agartala, January 5, 2026: A 62-member youth delegation from Tripura will represent the state at the 29th National Youth Festival in New Delhi, scheduled from January 10 to 12 at Bharat Mandapam. The annual event, themed “Viksit Bharat 2047”, aims to bring together young talents from across India to showcase culture, creativity, and ideas for a developed nation.
The Tripura contingent includes winners of state-level competitions in cultural performance, painting, and model design. They will also take part in the newly introduced Young Leaders’ Dialogue, reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of harnessing youth imagination and innovation to build a developed India by 2047.
Ahead of their departure, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy felicitated the participants at Ujjayanta Palace on Monday. He urged them to present Tripura’s heritage with sincerity and passion while learning from peers across the country. “You must make the state proud at the national stage,” Roy said, stressing that the festival is about representing the soul of Tripura as much as performance.
The minister also reminded the delegation of their responsibility to set an example by pledging against substance abuse. He highlighted Tripura’s recent strides in infrastructure and connectivity, noting the state’s rapid progress in rail services and public facilities.
Youth Affairs and Sports Secretary Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty briefed the team on festival protocols, urging discipline and adherence to official guidance during their stay in Delhi. Senior officials including Director L. Darlong and My Bharat Portal (Tripura) Director B.P. Shah attended the felicitation ceremony.
Organized by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the festival will see participation from across India. Prime Minister Modi is expected to interact directly with the youth on the vision of Viksit Bharat. For Tripura, the delegation’s presence marks both pride and an opportunity to highlight the state’s rich cultural identity on the national stage.
