Agartala, January 06, 2025: Professor Samir Kumar Sil, a senior academic in the Department of Human Physiology, has been appointed as the Acting Registrar of Tripura University. The appointment was formally handed over by Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Shyamal Das on Monday.
Upon assuming charge, Prof. Sil affirmed his commitment to upholding the Tripura University Act in all administrative decisions. Addressing students, he emphasized the importance of consistent academic engagement and praised the innovative spirit of the state’s research community.
“Tripura is earning global recognition due to the creativity of its researchers,” he remarked. “Students and scholars must harness the university’s infrastructure and capabilities to advance further.”
Prof. Sil brings with him a distinguished academic and research background. He completed his M.Sc. in 1988 from Calcutta University, securing first division and ranking third in his class. Over the years, he has received several accolades, including the Young Biomedical Scientist Award from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). He has served as a guest lecturer at Tulane University and as an overseas faculty member at Kansas State University in the United States.
In recognition of his academic contributions, the Government of India honored him with the Guest Lecturer Award. He has supervised ten PhD scholars to date and was recently inducted into the Resource Expert Committee under the Ministry of Science and Technology. Earlier in his career, he was awarded the CSIR-UGC JRF (NET) Fellowship in 1989.
Prof. Sil has authored over 100 research papers, many of which have received acclaim both nationally and internationally.
