Itanagar, Jan 7: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Wednesday addressed a press briefing on the Viksit Bharat G RAM G (Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Grameen) Bill, describing it as a major reform aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods.
The Bill provides a legal guarantee of 125 days of employment, increased budgetary support, and improved transparency, with a focus on durable village assets. Key initiatives under the scheme include water conservation, village infrastructure development, livelihood-supporting works, and disaster management, with decisions guided by Gram Sabhas and Panchayats to reflect local priorities.
Chowna Mein highlighted technology-enabled monitoring, farmer-friendly measures during peak agricultural seasons, and strengthened accountability as key features of the programme, aimed at creating poverty-free, employment-rich, and self-reliant villages.
He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing the reform. The briefing was attended by State BJP President Kaling Moyong, MP Tapir Gao, Panchayat & RD Minister Ojing Tasing, and State Convener for Viksit Bharat G RAM G, Tage Taki.
