Former president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur unit and former MLA Meinam Bhorot Singh passed away, triggering an outpouring of condolences from political leaders across the state and the country.

BJP leader and Member of Parliament Sambit Patra expressed deep grief over the demise, describing Meinam Bhorot Singh as one of the founding pillars of the BJP in Manipur. In a post on X, Patra said he was deeply saddened by the loss of the former BJP Manipur president and ex-MLA, and prayed for his eternal peace.

Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh also condoled the death, calling it an irreparable loss not only for the BJP but for the people of Manipur. Remembering him as a committed legislator and public representative, Biren Singh said Meinam Bhorot Singh consistently upheld democratic values and worked tirelessly for societal development, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and dedication.
