Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated a Handloom and Handicraft Exhibition at the National Textile Ministers’ Conference 2026 in Guwahati on Thursday. Union Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita was also present at the event.
The exhibition highlights India’s rich traditions, craftsmanship, and art, reflecting the government’s aim to preserve heritage while promoting economic growth, Singh said in a post on X.
During the conference, Yadav is scheduled to discuss wildlife exchanges with the Assam government. The two states have agreed to reintroduce wild buffaloes, extinct in Madhya Pradesh, and rhinoceroses to the state, while transferring tigers and crocodiles to Assam at its request. Proposals for the exchange have been submitted to the Centre, with further collaboration planned in eco-tourism and wildlife tourism alongside Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The two-day conference aims to boost investment, job creation, skill development, and innovation in the textile sector. Discussions cover traditional handlooms and handicrafts, technical textiles, ready-made garments, and exports. Yadav is expected to present Madhya Pradesh’s textile policy, investor-friendly initiatives, and resources, encouraging inter-state best practices and partnerships.
