Morigaon, Jan 9: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya reviewed the implementation of various central and state government development schemes in Morigaon district on Friday and interacted with beneficiaries, officials, and local stakeholders, an official statement said.
During the visit, the Governor went to Kumoi Anchalik Secondary School, where he interacted with students and joined them for the mid-day meal. He underscored the importance of nutritious food for children’s physical and mental development and appreciated the school authorities for maintaining food quality standards.
Acharya later inspected the Amrit Sarovar project at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and reviewed the progress of the work. He directed officials to undertake plantation drives to increase green cover in the area.
The Governor also chaired a review meeting at the KVK with the district commissioner and heads of various departments to assess the implementation of development schemes across the district.
Under the ‘Gaon Mein Governor’ initiative from Lok Bhavan, Acharya interacted with beneficiaries to understand the on-ground impact of welfare programmes. He also visited the Tata Semiconductor project site and reviewed its progress.
In a separate engagement, the Governor visited the residence of 85-year-old veteran sportsperson Andhuram Das and honoured him under the ‘Amar Mati Amar Nayak’ programme for his contributions.
