CM Dr Manik Saha Reviews Key Departments, Vows Stringent Action on Irregularities During North Tripura Visit

Agartala, January 12, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on the second day of his tour across North Tripura conducted a series of inspections and organizational engagements, highlighting his administration’s focus on governance, environmental accountability and political preparedness ahead of the upcoming elections.

The day commenced with Dr. Saha’s visit to the Sales Tax and Transport Department office at Churaibari in the Dharmanagar subdivision. During the inspection, the Chief Minister flagged several operational shortcomings and voiced concern over the unchecked movement of overloaded vehicles. He held discussions with department officials, urging immediate corrective measures to ensure regulatory compliance.

Continuing his oversight, Dr. Saha proceeded to a stone crusher unit in Kherengjuri-Laxminagar under the Bagbasa Assembly constituency. There, he identified instances of environmental violations and operational irregularities. In response, he convened a meeting with North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Debjani Chowdhury, directing them to initiate strict legal action against the offenders.

The Chief Minister also inspected the well depot near the Dharmanagar railway gate before concluding his official engagements for the day.

In a more personal gesture, Dr. Saha visited the residence of the late Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswabandhu Sen to offer condolences to the bereaved family.

Later in the day, Dr. Saha chaired an organizational meeting at the BJP district office, joined by Minister Tinku Roy, State BJP President Rajib Bhattacharya, District President Kajal Das, and mandal presidents from six organizational units. The meeting focused on strategies to bolster the party’s grassroots network in anticipation of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections.

Speaking to the media post-meeting, Dr. Saha exuded confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects, declaring, “BJP will win all 28 seats in the upcoming ADC elections.”

He also addressed the recent unrest in Shimultala, Fatikroy (Unakoti district), confirming the arrest of 10 individuals linked to the incident. Emphasizing the government’s zero-tolerance stance, he assured that law enforcement agencies are maintaining order and that legal proceedings are underway. Dr. Saha further criticized opposition attempts to incite unrest, asserting that the law would take its due course.
