Security forces arrested an alleged extortionist associated with the proscribed PREPAK (Pro) outfit in Imphal West district on January 12, 2026. The arrested individual has been identified as Huiningshungbam George Bush Meitei, also known as Ningthem, aged 19, a resident of Lamphel Grace Colony under Lamphel Police Station. He was apprehended from the Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai area. A mobile phone was seized from his possession during the operation.

In a separate operation conducted on January 11, 2026, security forces arrested an active cadre of KYKL (G-5) in connection with an explosion at a fuel station in Moirang Thana Leikai, Bishnupur district, which occurred on January 8, 2026. The arrested cadre has been identified as Hijam Manichandra Singh, aged 35, a resident of Waikhong Chingdong Leikai in Kakching district. He was apprehended from the Komnao Makha Leikai area under Waikhong Police Station in Kakching district.

Officials said that following his arrest, other accomplices involved in the fuel station explosion have been identified. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining suspects.
