Manipur Police on Wednesday said that three militants belonging to the proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (SOREPA) were arrested from Manipur’s Imphal West district.

The arrested cadres were identified as Keithelakpam Telheiba Mangang (23), Konthoujam Gooddy Meitei (23) and Laishram Ichan Devi alias Sangita (30). According to police, they were allegedly involved in extortion activities across the Imphal Valley districts, recruitment of new cadres, and providing logistical support for various unlawful activities. The arrests were carried out on Tuesday from separate locations.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation, security forces destroyed illicit poppy cultivation spread over about 65 acres in the Govok hill range of Chandel district as part of ongoing anti-narcotics operations.
